Ford Blind Spot Information System (BLIS)

What is the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS)?

Ford’s Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) helps you to change lanes more safely. This is down to RADAR sensors which scan the blind spots on either side of your vehicle. If these sensors detect a vehicle that you cannot see, an orange light is illuminated and clearly displayed in the corresponding exterior door mirror to warn you.

Two Ford BLIS radars are mounted in the corners of the rear bumper so that they can individually monitor each side of the vehicle it is installed on. The radars range extends from the wing mirror to about three meters behind the rear bumper, and covers approximately three meters on either side of the car. This system becomes active from speeds as low as 6mph, so this system is useful in many scenarios, such as busy urban traffic, or on the highway in traffic jams.
