The Ford Focus ST is a global performance model with improved dynamics, innovative technology, and for the first time is available with the choice of petrol or diesel power. Offered in the five-door or wagon model, the Focus ST comes with unique 18” 5-spoke ‘Y’ designed alloy wheels, ST designed full bodystyling kit, and sports-tuned suspension.
EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR
The Focus ST features a sportier, more aggressive styling with a lower and wider stance. The new sculpted bonnet and slimmer headlamps, sports bodykit that includes body-coloured side skirts, rear roof spoiler, twin-hexagonal centre tailpipes, and ST badging complete the ultimate ST look.
To create the interior that ST drivers expect, Ford has placed a new, flat-base sports steering wheel with a soft-feel leather cover rim, a satin chrome-topped gear lever, and ST pedals.
The Focus ST
Smart technology, intelligent design, precision engineering: behind the wheel of the Focus ST, you’re as connected to the road as you are with your music, messages and phone calls on the move.
Racing-style sports suspension An upgraded suspension includes stiffer bushes on the front lower control arm and rear spring links, plus an all-new anti-roll bar design. This setup lowers the chassis, bringing the centre of gravity closer to the road for more precise cornering.
Effortless maneuvering and cruising
Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS) automatically adjusts to provide easier, lighter steering when you’re parking in a tight spot and firmer steering for more control on motorways.
Electronic Transition Stability The Focus ST incorporates a new technology called Electronic Transitional Stability (part of the advanced three-stage Electronic Stability programme). By sensing vehicle stability and driver inputs, the system can react and respond to help you maintain precision and control when changing lanes, or overtaking.
More control, and more fun, in corners By balancing engine torque between the front wheels, to suit the road surface and driving conditions, Electronic Torque Vectoring Control gives you grip, confidence and precision handling when you accelerate during cornering.
Electronic Torque Vectoring Stability
Built for power delivery The Focus ST has a Diesel engine capable of delivering up to 185 PS with 400Nm of torque and a Petrol engine with 250PS and 345Nm of torque. So new engine mounts have been engineered specifically to deliver this power seamlessly, giving exceptional front wheel traction, even under hard acceleration.
Ford SYNC 2 with Voice Control and Touchscreen is an advanced infotainment system that includes a high resolution 8” colour display. This high-resolution display gives intuitive control of several key functions including phone, audio, climate control and optional navigation via voice or touch.
Cross Traffic Alert is an entirely new technology that’s now part of the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS). When you’re reversing out of a space and have limited visibility of the traffic situation, Cross Traffic Alert can detect oncoming vehicles and sound a warning. The technology illuminates a light in the wing mirror too, (left or right depending on the direction of oncoming traffic). (Optional on ST-2 and ST-3).
High-performance demands a high-level of safety. And the Focus ST is equipped with a comprehensive range of advanced measures, to provide you with protection and reassurance.
Intelligent Protection System The Focus ST is equipped with an advanced Intelligent Protection System (IPS), which coordinates a number of safety systems to protect both you and your passengers. As well as an impact-absorbing bodyshell, an array of airbags help shield the car’s occupants. The steering column and pedals are also designed to collapse away from the driver, helping to reduce the chance of injury in the event of an accident.
You can switch the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) system between two modes. Sport Mode gives you full control over engine torque whilst the ESP brake interventions are reduced to allow more sporty driving. Traction Control is also switched off to deliver higher wheel spin for improved traction in specific, demanding situations. Via the ‘Off Mode’, both ESP and Traction Control can be switched off completely.
Electronic Stability Programme A refined Anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) combine to ensure that your braking is more controlled. The brake assembly has also been improved to give a swifter response.
Helps make city driving safer
Accidents in stop-start or slow moving traffic happen all too frequently (particularly in busy city streets). Active City Stop is designed to help you avoid, or reduce the impact of them. If the system detects the car in front slows down unexpectedly, and you’re travelling at a speed of under 30 mph, it automatically applies the brakes.
Bi-Xenon Headlamps with Adaptive Lighting From motorways to city streets, Bi-Xenon Headlamps with Adaptive Lighting change their beam pattern automatically, providing the best illumination for a variety of driving situations. The headlamps also auto-dip when an oncoming vehicle is detected.
Lane Keeping Aid will deliver steering assistance if it detects you are about to change lane without signalling. And if your vehicle is unintentionally drifting toward the lane markings, Lane Keeping Alert alerts you by vibrating the steering wheel and showing a visual signal in the cluster display.
Hill Start Assist temporarily stops you rolling backwards or forwards when making a hill start. The system works by maintaining pressure to the braking system for an extra 2.5 seconds, giving you more time and control as you move your foot from brake pedal to accelerator.
Driver Alert constantly monitors your driving behaviour and is designed to detect any changes caused by fatigue. If you’re getting tired, a warning icon appears in the display, suggesting you take a break.
Auto High Beam. A useful night-driving aid, Auto High Beam ensures you can concentrate on the road because it automatically switches the high beams on/off at night for street lights as well as oncoming and preceding traffic.
Should any of your tyres starts to lose pressure during your journey, the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) warns you by lighting up an icon on the instrument panel; giving you the chance to stop safely and fix the problem.
Blind Spot Information System The Blind Spot Information System uses radar sensors to see vehicles that may be hidden in your blind spot. They’re situated on either side of your car and actively alert you to potentially dangerous hazardous situations with an orange light, clearly displayed in the side door mirror.
Integrated with the cruise control function, the Speed Limiter lets you set your top speed. The car then stays within that speed, so you can keep your eyes on the road. When you need to go faster, just press the accelerator to override the system.
POWERFULLY FUEL EFFICIENT
Designed and built to be a performance car you can enjoy every day, the Focus ST is powered by a 2.0-litre 250PS EcoBoost petrol engine, or new 2.0-litre, 185PS TDCi. Both provide an uncompromising mix of performance and efficiency. So you can enjoy affordable running costs while you’re busy enjoying ST levels of power and performance.
2.0-litre EcoBoost engine Turbocharging, twin-independent variable cam timing technology, high-pressure direct fuel injection: the 2.0-litre, 250PS EcoBoost petrol engine utilises them all to deliver (in the 5-door model) a 0-62mph, time of just 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 154 mph (limited). This lightweight aluminium engine is ultra-responsive and exceptionally efficient: providing swift acceleration through the gears and maximum torque available from just 2000 RPM.
The 2.0-litre, 185PS TDCi engine is available in both PowerShift and manual transmissions. The powerful engine can propel your Focus ST 5-door from 0-62 mph in 7.7 seconds (PowerShift) and onward to a top speed of 135 mph (limited). Peak power is developed at 3,500 rpm and 400 Nm of torque is available from 2,000- 2,750 rpm. This torque output enables impressive in-gear acceleration and strong performance at low rpm.
The innovative Ford Eco Mode system continually assesses the effects of your driving behaviour on your fuel consumption. The system analyses your speed, gear shifting, braking and anticipation levels, plus the number of short and long journeys you make. Smart software then advises you on how to improve fuel economy.
Use less fuel with Auto Start-Stop When your Focus ST stops at traffic lights or is idling in a queue, Auto Start-Stop can automatically switch off the engine (while still supplying power to essentials like the ventilation, radio and Ford SYNC). When you're ready to move, just depress the clutch and select first gear as usual, and the system restarts the engine.
An advanced 6-speed manual transmission is exclusive to ST and matched individually to each engine. Specific gearing delivers the maximum ‘punch’ from every throw of the gearshift. And rapid acceleration in lower gears is matched by comfortable cruising at speed: the ratio of sixth gear is perfectly tuned to the Focus ST, giving you optimum performance while remaining long enough to help maintain excellent fuel economy on longer runs.
Unlike traditional systems, Smart Regenerative Charging only charges the battery when it needs it, and, whenever possible, avoids doing so when you’re pressing the accelerator.
Active Grille Shutter When you’re driving slowly, the Active Grille Shutter system keeps the grille vent open to cool the engine. When you pick up speed it can automatically close, improving aerodynamics and helping to save fuel.
An illuminated arrow, Gear shift indicator (GSI) on the instrument panel tells you when to change gear, to enable eco driving for maximum fuel efficiency. It’s a simple but effective way to help make every journey more economical.
*In 4th gear the declared fuel/energy consumptions, CO2 emissions and electric range are measured according to the technical requirements and specifications of the European Regulations (EC) 715/2007 and (EC) 692/2008 as last amended. Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are specified for a vehicle variant and not for a single car. The applied standard test procedure enables comparison between different vehicle types and different manufacturers. In addition to the fuel efficiency of a car, driving behaviour as well as other non-technical factors are very important in determining a car's fuel/energy consumption, CO2 emissions and electric range. CO2 is the main greenhouse gas responsible for global warming. A guide on fuel economy and CO2 emissions which contains data for all new passenger car models is available at any point of sale free of charge or can be downloaded under http://carfueldata.dft.gov.uk/.
