ADVANCED. EFFORTLESS. INNOVATIVE.
The Ford Edge is equipped with many innovative technologies. You’ll wonder how you ever managed without some of them. They all ensure you can concentrate on driving, and that far-reaching view of the road ahead.

Adaptive steering wheel Adaptive steering is a new technology that enables effortless driving at all times, in all conditions - and even when parking. At lower speeds, such as manoeuvring in a car park, reduced wheel turning is required. At higher speeds, it automatically moves to a more conventional steering ratio to provide comfortable, reassuring feedback. There’s also a Sport Mode. When activated, it makes driving on sweeping and curving roads more rewarding by requiring reduced steering input to negotiate the bends .

Technology you can control with your voice Ford SYNC 3 lets you stay connected and control your phone, music, navigation system and climate control with intuitive voice commands or the 8” colour touchscreen. You can even call up a list of local restaurants just by saying “I’m hungry”, or access the Michelin Guide to help you choose and book places to eat, along with hotels.
Wi-Fi connectivity is available via hotspots, with a USB modem. And Ford Emergency Assistance can automatically help call the Emergency Services in the event of an accident.

An intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system can determine how much grip, cornering balance and responsiveness is required in wet, dry or icy conditions and on varying terrain. The technology is intelligent, so it’s able to send drive to the front or rear axle depending on requirements. And by providing ‘torque on demand’, the system delivers exceptional handling and improved efficiency for safe, effortless driving.

Headlamps that help you see around bends Adaptive lighting with Ford Dynamic LED headlamps aren’t just striking; they’re smart. A series of LEDs deliver a precise light pattern and their intensely bright natural light provides exceptional illumination. Day time running lights are also included. And LED tracer turn indicator strips replace traditional ‘blinking’ lights, illuminating in sequence for high visibility to other drivers. In addition, Glare Free High Beam adjusts itself automatically, maximising visibility without dazzling other drivers. Remarkably, these new headlamps/lights also follow the road, helping you to see more clearly when driving around bends.

Sees what’s coming, from either side A tiny panoramic camera, on the front of the New Ford Edge, relays a split-screen image to your car’s Multi-Function Display so you can see vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians coming from either side. This optional new technology is invaluable if you’re edging out of a narrow parking space, or on to a busy road where your view is obstructed.

Traffic sign recognition Sees the road signs you might miss Whether the signs are at the side of the road or above it, permanent or temporary, Traffic Sign Recognition can identify them. An icon of that speed or no-overtaking sign appears on the instrument cluster and changes every time you enter a new limit.

Lane Keeping System An advanced system to help you stay in lane A Lane Keeping System uses a forward-looking camera to detect if you’re accidentally drifting out of lane. Lane Keeping Alert then warns you by vibrating the steering wheel and displaying a visual warning. If you're slow to react or don’t respond, Lane Keeping Aid can provide steering assistance to help guide you safely back into the right lane. The technology is designed for multi-lane roads (like motorways), so will automatically deactivate at speeds below 43mph (65 kph) or can be turned off manually.

Adaptive Cruise control that can adapt automatically With Adaptive Cruise Control technology, you choose the speed you want to drive at and the system will maintain it. If the built-in RADAR sensor detects a vehicle ahead, it will slow the car to maintain a pre-set distance. Once the road in front is clear, the system will accelerate to your chosen speed.
Forward Alert is a technology that comes as part of Adaptive Cruise Control and is designed to warn you if you accidentally get too close to the vehicle in front.

Intelligent Speed Assist Helping to keep you inside the speed limit Intelligent Speed Assist is designed to reduce your chance of speeding and increase your concentration on the road. First, the Traffic Sign Recognition camera automatically detects the current speed limit (when activated), then the system automatically adjusts your maximum speed setting to that limit.

Blind Spot Information System Mirrors that see what you can’t A Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) can help you change lanes more safely, thanks to RADAR sensors that scan the blind spots on either side of your vehicle. If they detect a vehicle you can’t see, an orange light, displayed in the corresponding side door mirror, illuminates to warn you.

Cross Traffic Alert Extra help when you’re reversing A new technology, Cross Traffic Alert detects approaching vehicles when you’re reversing out of a space. If something’s approaching, it will sound a warning and illuminate a light in the corresponding wing mirror.

Hill Start Assist Extra control during hill starts Hill Start Assist temporarily stops you rolling backwards or forwards when making a hill start. The system works by maintaining pressure to the braking system for an extra 2.5 seconds, giving you more time and control as you move your foot from brake pedal to accelerator. It’s also useful when you’re stopping and starting on slippery surfaces.

Trailer Sway Control Keeping your trailer safely in line Trailer Sway Control detects ‘snaking’ or trailer sway and reduces your vehicle’s speed to help solve the problem, making towing more controlled. The system slows the vehicle down by reducing the engine’s torque and gradually increasing the brake pressure on the wheels.

Torque Vectoring Control Maximum cornering control Torque Vectoring Control balances engine torque between the front wheels to suit the road surface and driving conditions. Operating at 100 times a second, the system is 33 times faster than the blink of an eye. Which means more grip and ultra-precise handling, as you’ll discover when you’re accelerating through corners.

Electric power-assisted steering Power-assisted steering that responds to every situation Electric power-assisted steering automatically adjusts to your speed and the conditions. At low speeds, the system makes wheel turns feel lighter and easier, improving manoeuvrability. At high speeds, when you need greater control, it firms up the steering. A drift control feature also takes into account crosswinds and other driving conditions.

* The declared fuel consumptions and CO2 emissions are measured according to the technical requirements and specifications of European Directive 80/1268/EEC and the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 as amended by (EC) 692/2008. Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are specified for a vehicle type and not for a single car. The applied standard test procedure enables comparisons between different vehicle types and different manufacturers. In additional to the fuel efficiency of a car, driving behaviour as well as other non-technical factors are very important in determining a car’s fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. CO2 is the main greenhouse gas responsible for global warming. A guide on the fuel economy and CO2 emissions which contain data for all new passenger car models is available at any point of sale free of charge or can be downloaded from http://carfueldata.dft.gov.uk/.
