The B-MAX brakes for you, to avoid low speed collisions The innovative Active City Stop helps you soften, or even avoid, a collision in slow-moving traffic or at speeds up to 19 mph. If the system detects the car in front has unexpectedly stopped, it automatically applies the brakes.
Extra control during hill starts Hill Start Assist stops you rolling backwards when making a hill start. The system works by maintaining pressure to the braking system for an extra 2.5 seconds, giving you more time and control as you move your foot from brake pedal to accelerator. It’s also useful when you’re stopping and starting on slippery surfaces. (Hill start assist is not available with the 1.4 litre petrol engine)
Easier reversing with a Rear View Camera Bollards, low walls, kids playing… the Rear View Camera shows whatever’s behind you on a screen built into the display on your dashboard. As well as showing you things you might miss, it helps you park, by displaying virtual lines to guide you into the smallest space. For added convenience, the Rear View Camera activates automatically when you select reverse gear.
Sensors that take the stress out of parking Optional Parking Distance Sensors help you judge the distance between your car and an obstacle, in front or behind you. They set off an audible warning that intensifies, the closer you get. The feature is designed to help you park quickly and confidently.
Maximum grip for greater control Torque Vectoring Control reacts to the road surface 100 times per second. Using this information, it repeatedly balances the amount of power and braking delivered to each of the two front wheels. This maximises grip and sharpens handling, helping you round corners and over undulations in the road. Torque Vectoring Control is a cutting-edge technology that comes as standard.
Power-assisted steering that uses less power The B-MAX has electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) that automatically adjusts to suit the situation. So if you’re driving in the city, at low speeds, or parking, the system makes wheel turns feel lighter and easier to give you greater manoeuvrability. And at higher speeds (on the motorway, for example) it will make the steering firmer to give you greater control and confidence. This innovative EPAS only activates when needed, so it uses less energy, further improving fuel economy.
Cruise control makes longer drives more relaxed If you’re on the motorway, you can set the speed, using steering wheel-mounted toggles. The system then maintains that speed, so there’s no need to keep your foot on the accelerator. To go faster or slower, you simply use the same manual controls.
Use less fuel with Auto-Start-Stop The B-MAX has an auto-start-stop feature for the 1.0 125PS EcoBoost engine, which means the system will automatically shut down when the vehicle is idle, at a red light for example. When the driver is ready to move off the engine will restart, convenient and fuel efficient. With 114g/km CO2, the B-MAX has a best in class level of co2 emissions and a best in class fuel efficiency of 57.7 mpg (combined fuel cycle).
The B-MAX has achieved outstanding results during our in-house safety testing. So now the production model is finished, with its host of advanced safety features, it should get excellent official ratings, even under the new, more stringent Euro NCAP standards. The vehicle’s security features are equally advanced, including Global Closing, with which you can open and close all the doors and electric windows remotely, using your key. (Perimeter alarm system available with certain option packs). The double lock feature prevents an intruder from unlocking the doors from the inside, and also includes a Thatcham category 1 alarm system.
EURO NCAP A Euro NCAP Advanced reward, for keeping you safe

The reward recognises only the most advanced avoidance, crash and post-crash technologies available in a car. And it's a measure of Ford's commitment to safety that across our range, we've now received a total of seven Euro NCAP Advanced rewards, all for innovations designed to protect you.
The B-MAX has been awarded the highest possible five-star safety rating by independent crash test authority Euro NCAP, scoring particularly highly for overall and adult protection. Both front and rear passengers benefit from seven airbags and the Ultra-high-strength steel as well as the front-end have been carefully engineered for optimised pedestrian protection. Only vehicles offering all-round protection can be awarded a five-star rating and Ford B-MAX has achieved this through outstanding engineering, innovative design and smart technologies.
The range of engines and gearboxes available on the B-MAX lets you choose your own combination of power and efficiency. Highlights include the new 1.0 litre EcoBoost petrol engine, which offers the power of a 1.6 with outstanding fuel economy, and the enhanced 1.6 TDCi diesel.
Ford EcoBoost New highly-advanced EcoBoost petrol engine
The B-MAX is available with a revolutionary 1.0 litre engine, which at 100PS and 125PS delivers the power of a 1.6 litre. Yet it still manages to consume 20% less fuel than other equivalent petrol engines. In fact, its fuel consumption and CO2 emissions figures are more like a diesel’s.
To achieve this, it has been fundamentally re-engineered – a faster engine warm-up time and reduced friction are just a couple of improvements. As well as its power and economy, you’ll enjoy its unique sound and sporty feel.
Alongside the new EcoBoost engine, the B-MAX is available with the entry level 1.4 litre Duratec engine, producing 90 PS, and the 1.6 Ti-VCT – a smooth, efficient option producing 105 PS with PowerShift gearbox.
Two diesel engines which deliver superior efficiency
The efficient 1.6 TDCi, produces 95 PS and achieves a class-leading 70.6 mpg and brings CO2 emission levels to just 104g/km. Alternatively, the economical 1.5 TDCi produces 75 PS and keeps fuel consumption at a low level of 68.9 mpg and brings CO2 emission levels to just 109g/km.
