From intuitive voice controlled SYNC 3, to an effortless electronic parking brake. From a clever system that can help brake for you, to paddle shift gears you can change with your fingertips. The New Kuga is packed with a raft of new and upgraded technologies. And all exist to make every drive more sure-footed, more efficient, more fun.
Go hands-free with SYNC 3 SYNC 3 is our most advanced version to date. It’s faster and easier to use, with enhanced voice commands and even more functionality. The new interface has larger buttons for improved usability, and the 8” Touchscreen now features pinch-and-swipe gestures found on smartphones and tablets for even more intuitive navigation. SYNC 3 also features AppLink, Apple’s CarPlay and Android Auto, to display your smartphone’s information on the touchscreen. (Optional on Zetec).
Please note: Full SYNC 3 smartphone integration is only available with iPhone 5/Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher. Some SYNC 3 functions require a data connection, so mobile data charges will apply. To check whether Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available in your market, please check official Apple CarPlay and Android Auto websites for the latest information.
Endlessly easy parking Active Park Assist offers enhanced new capabilities. It uses ultrasonic sensors to work out if your Kuga can fit into a parking space. If it can, the system will steer you safely in while you operate the gears and pedals – whether you’re parallel or perpendicular parking. When you’re ready to set off again, it will even steer you out of the space. (Optional on Zetec and Titanium)
Hands-free tailgate Since its launch, Ford’s hands-free tailgate has proved a resounding success - especially with those who lead active lives. If your hands are full, but you have your KeyFree fob on you, then you need only wave your foot under the rear bumper and the tailgate will open automatically as it senses your presence. You can also operate the tailgate with buttons inside the Kuga.
An electronic parking brake A clever new Electronic Parking Brake makes the traditional handbrake lever a thing of the past. You can now apply the parking brake by using a button on the centre console. As well as creating extra cabin space, this feature makes life easier and reduces the need to adjust the brake during service intervals (not available on Zetec)
Help when reversing out Cross Traffic Alert is a brand new technology that helps reduce the guesswork and worry when reversing out of a space. It detects oncoming vehicles and, if something’s approaching, it will sound a warning and illuminate a light in the corresponding wing mirror. (Optional Feature)
Headlamps that see around corners Advanced Bi-Xenon headlamps include Adaptive Lighting with Dynamic Curve Lighting. Not only will they turn as the wheel does to illuminate further into a curving road, they also adjust their beam automatically to match your driving conditions. There are eight kinds of beam, including ones for residential areas, motorways, country roads and city centres. Below the headlamps you’ll find an LED daytime running strip which helps improve visibility in daylight hours. (Optional on Titanium and ST-Line, Standard on Vignale)
Safer city driving
Accidents in stop-start or slow moving traffic happen all too frequently (particularly in busy city streets). Active City Stop is designed to help you reduce the impact of them and, in some cases, avoid them completely. If the system detects the car in front slows down unexpectedly, and you’re travelling at a speed of under 30mph, it automatically applies the brakes. (Optional Feature)
Power with frugality
A new 1.5 TDCi 120ps diesel engine has been added to the Ford Kuga line-up, which results in improved fuel use and fewer emissions. Other innovative technologies include direct fuel injection, turbocharging and Twin Independent Variable Cam Timing. Together, they help make the engine responsive, smooth and lively which results in a highly engaging drive.
Smarter than average All-Wheel Drive
The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system constantly monitors driving conditions. As it does so, it determines how much grip, cornering, balance and responsiveness is needed and fine-tunes itself. Whether wet, dry or icy, the system will send extra power to the front or rear axle as and when needed, ensuring exceptional handling at all times. At low speeds, the system improves traction. For instance, if the front wheels are on ice and the rear ones aren’t, extra torque will be sent to the rear where it’s needed. And because the system only activates when needed, it saves fuel in less challenging conditions.
